A lateral thinker's view of the world
There is an interlinking of public policy and economics and it all affects the environment.
For example how does our public health policy impact on the environment?
Why does the amount of salt we eat affect the environment?
If you add salt to your diet, then you will get high blood pressure, and eventually need to take drugs to control it. Sewerage systems do not break down those drugs so that they end up in the environment. So things like fish in the sea end up being on heart, blood pressure and other medications.
Finding time to write remains a low priority compared to working and being involved in the things that I think I can change. There are times however, when an issue become irritating enough for me to put pen to paper (so to speak). Even if I am not prepared to put time into the work needed to change that issue, I refuse to be part of the silent majority.
These essays may have been published as letters to the editor, or comments on other people's blogs, but they are all my writing.
Australian of the 21st Century
I declare that
Fiona Lippey, self-described Miser Extraordinaire and founder of Simple Savings is
" The Australian who single handedly does the most to reduce climate change. "
I admire Fiona Lippey greatly. In her quest to help people save money she gently disrupts the dominant discourse by encouraging people to reduce, repair, refuse and recycle. In my opinion her work has great significance because she is effective at getting people to change their behaviour. She is a genuine leader who leads by example.
