The logical conclusion of the removal of two principle greenhouse gases from the earth's atmosphere, these being carbon dioxide and methane, is that Earth's climate is now a cool one, one that is very sensitive to the activity of the sun, and the excentricities of our orbit around the sun.
With the principle green house gas now being water vapour, slight drops of incoming energy means that water vapour rapidly (speaking geological time) becomes ice and we have global glaciation events.
Now humans owe their existence to these types of climates.
9 to 6 million years ago the driver which took our pre-hominid ancestors out of the trees was the dry conditions resulting from glaciation.
Without human intervention the global processes will keep cooling Earth, because not only is carbon dioxide removed from the system, bacteria are slowly locking nitrogen away into the soil, thus making our atmosphere thinner, which leads to even more cooling.
Logically, Gaia's evolution needs a profligate species (mankind) able to reverse the direction of the fossil carbon cycle.
The problem is that it's rapidity will harm very many people.
